How it fits together

Why no branded app?
The players listed above are mature, actively maintained, and already approved in the app stores your device trusts. A branded wrapper around the same functionality would mean asking you to sideload something — worse for security, worse for updates, and one more thing to break when your TV updates its firmware. Using the standard players also means your setup keeps working on hardware we've never tested.
